Made in Atlanta: The Story Behind Georgia's Award-Winning Pickles

1 min readBy Atlanta Pickles Team

The Green Tomatoes, Flavor of Georgia winner, by [PICKLES]

Atlanta Pickles started with a simple idea: pickles should taste like something made by hand, not something engineered for a warehouse shelf. Every jar we brine today still follows that idea.

Georgia-grown, start to finish

We source our cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and produce from growers close to home in Georgia. That means shorter time between harvest and jar, which is a big part of why our pickles come out crisp instead of soft.

Recognized for it

In 2024, The Banana Pickle was named Flavor of Georgia's Best Pickle, a statewide competition judged on taste. Since then, The Spicy Garlic won a 2026 Good Food Award, The Green Tomatoes won Flavor of Georgia 2026, and The Ghost Pickle took Best Spicy at the 2024 Artisan International Flavor Awards. It's the kind of recognition that validates what small-batch brining is supposed to deliver: a better jar, not just a cheaper one. For a jar-by-jar guide to the winners and the Southern favorites, see Georgia Pickles: Award-Winning Jars Made in Atlanta.

40+ flavors and counting

What started as a handful of jars has grown into a full lineup: tangy classics, fiery favorites like our Horse Pickle and Spicy Garlic, sweet surprises like our Grape Pickle and Strawberry Lemonade Pickles, and a full collection of pickled vegetables beyond the classic cucumber.

Still handcrafted, still local

Every jar is still 90% lower in sodium than typical store-bought pickles*, made with no harmful preservatives, and packed in glass — the same standards we started with. If you want to taste what an Atlanta-made, Georgia-grown pickle actually tastes like, browse the full lineup or jump straight into the [PICKLES] CLUB for a new flavor every month.
