Pickle Gift Baskets & Boxes: How to Build the Perfect One
A pickle gift basket is one of those presents that gets a laugh when it is unwrapped and then gets used every single day after. It is personal, it is fun, and unlike another candle, it actually gets finished.
Here is how to build a great one, step by step, whether you are filling a basket yourself or letting us pack the box.

Step 1: Pick a theme
The best gift baskets have a point of view. A random pile of jars is fine; a basket with a story is memorable. A few themes that always land:
- The dill purist: classic sour pickles, nothing fancy.
- The heat seeker: spicy jars only, from warm to wild.
- The sweet tooth: bread and butter and sweet-heat pickles.
- The brunch host: Bloody Mary garnishes and a jar for the board.
- The adventurer: surprise flavours they would never pick themselves.
Step 2: Balance the jars
Our pickles fall into three families: Sour, Spicy and Sweet. If you do not know someone's taste well, one from each family is the safest bet. If you do, go deep in one family.
Sour: from gentle to puckering
Our sour scale has three steps. The Dill Chips are the least sour, with coriander and lemon-lime zest. The Vintage is the medium classic, with traditional pickling spice and crushed bay leaf. The Power Sour is the most sour of all. Together they make a perfect tasting flight.
Spicy: pick the heat
Anything we call "Spicy" is a 3 out of 5 with habanero. The Ghost Pickle is a 4 out of 5 and the only jar that stings. Our spicy pickles heat scale lays it all out.
Sweet: a crowd-pleaser
The Bread and Butter is the classic sweet pickle, made with brown and white sugar and a cinnamon pickling spice. The Heat and Sweet adds red jalapeños for a gentle kick.
Step 3: Decide how many jars
- 2 jars: a hostess or thank-you gift. Small, thoughtful, easy to carry.
- 3 jars: the sweet spot. Enough to show range, one from each family or three on a theme.
- 6 jars: for the true pickle person, a family, or a client gift that should feel generous.
Every one of our jars is 17 oz, so even a two-jar gift feels substantial.
Step 4: Add the extras (optional)
If you are building a basket at home, a few non-pickle add-ons turn it into a full kit:
- For a snack board basket: a wedge of sharp cheddar, crackers, a small board and toothpicks.
- For a Bloody Mary basket: tomato juice, a bottle of hot sauce, celery salt and tall glasses.
- For a burger night basket: a jar of good mustard, a spatula and The Hot Pickle.
- For a fun basket: pickle merch from our Pickle Merch collection.
Pack heavier glass jars at the bottom with tissue or crinkle paper between them, and lighter items on top.
Step 5: Think about delivery
Our jars are vinegar-brined and shelf-stable for up to two years unopened, so a pickle gift can sit under a tree or travel in a car without a fridge. It only needs refrigerating once opened. If you are shipping, buying a box ready-made saves you the packing and the postage: every gift box below ships free in the US.

Pickle gift basket FAQ
Basket or box: which is better?
A basket you fill yourself is perfect for hand delivery, when you want to add cheese, crackers or a bottle of something. A ready-made box is better for shipping: it is packed to travel and arrives gift-ready.
What if I do not know their taste?
Go one from each family: a sour, a spicy and a sweet. The 3-Jar Party Pack does exactly that, or the Mystery Box lets the surprise be the point.
Can I add a personal note?
If you are filling a basket at home, tuck a handwritten card between the jars. A line about why you picked each flavour turns a nice gift into a memorable one.
